Product Overview

Independently developed by H3C, the S5560X-EI is a Layer 3 gigabit managed switch built on high-performance hardware and Comware V7 OS. It enables seamless wired-wireless convergence on unified switching architecture. With embedded WLAN controller capability, it supports local wired/wireless forwarding at access layer to remove wireless bandwidth bottlenecks, expand Wi-Fi deployment and cut investment cost.

Equipped with 10/100/1000BASE-T or 10GE SFP+ ports, the switch expands to 10GE copper and 40GE QSFP+ via optional subcards. For enterprise networks, it serves as desktop access or SME core; for metro and vertical networks, it aggregates downstream access switches and uplinks to core via 10G/40G fiber or link aggregation. The series also supports innovative VXLAN with both Layer 2 and Layer 3 gateway functions.

Features 

High-performance Port Expansion Capability

All S5560X-EI switches come with four fixed 10GE SFP+ ports for cost-effective non-blocking deployment. Diversified optional interface modules including GE copper/fiber, 10GE copper/fiber, 25G and 40GE variants maximize port density, up to 12×10GE or 2×40GE ports per chassis, satisfying core and aggregation deployment for mixed copper-fiber networking.

SmartMC (Smart Management Center)

SmartMC centralizes bulk access switch O&M to simplify SME network administration via embedded graphical management. It covers four modules: intelligent configuration setup, batch device upgrade & fault replacement, visualized topology, and user access control with one-click network deployment. S5560X-EI can act as SmartMC master to govern the whole network.

VXLAN Features

The switches support VXLAN with L2/L3 gateway and EVPN. It encapsulates VM traffic into UDP packets across physical IP networks, enabling cross-DC seamless VM migration over long distances.

Visualization Capability

Built-in Telemetry transmits real-time device metrics and alarms to O&M platforms via gRPC, supporting network tracing, fault diagnosis, risk alert and architecture optimization.

Highly Available M-LAG Architecture

M-LAG virtualizes two standalone switches into one forwarding entity while keeping independent control planes for device-level redundancy. It decouples control and data plane to allow in-service firmware upgrade without outage, delivers dual-homing load balancing, and fits both underlay and overlay topologies flexibly.

Multi-service Convergence

Based on H3C OAA open architecture, the switch accepts modular add-in cards including firewall, IPS, load balancing, security scanner, mini-iMC and Netstream, turning the hardware into an integrated multi-service bearing platform.

High-performance IPv4/IPv6 Service Capabilities

Hardware-based dual-stack implementation supports abundant tunneling, Layer3 routing and multicast protocols to deliver complete IPv4/IPv6 networking solutions.

IRF2 (Intelligent Resilient Framework 2)

IRF2 clusters multiple physical switches into one logical unit to cut configuration workload, shorten convergence via replacing STP with cross-device link aggregation, enable hot-plug capacity expansion, and improve reliability through link/device/protocol 1:N redundancy as well as aggregated forwarding performance.

IRF3.1 (Vertical Virtualization)

Leveraging 802.1BR, IRF3.1 virtualizes remote access switches as line cards of core devices. It unifies configuration and security policy on master unit, simplifies three-tier into two-tier architecture, reduces cabling, and supports zero-config hot-plug access devices for easy maintenance.

SDN (Software Defined Network)

Compliant with OpenFlow, the large flow table cooperates with H3C SDN controller to build large-scale Layer2 networks, accelerate user access rollout and cut ongoing O&M expenditure.

Comprehensive Security Policy

Integrated with EAD, 802.1X, MAC authentication and multi-element binding, the switch dynamically pushes user-defined VLAN/QoS/ACL rules and works with iMC to block illegal access. Enhanced ACL and uRPF defend against source address spoofing; hardware MACsec offers hop-by-hop link encryption, anti-replay and tamper-proof protection under host or inter-device deployment modes.

Multi-layer Reliability Design

Hot-swappable dual AC/DC power supplies and redundant fans with speed auto-adjustment enhance hardware reliability. Dual-Flash dual-boot avoids boot failure from single chip damage. Rich link protection protocols plus IRF2 and M-LAG ensure stable convergence amid heavy traffic.

Abundant QoS Functions

L2~L4 traffic classification supports SP/WRR/SP+WRR queue scheduling, 64Kbps minimum granularity CAR, bidirectional port mirroring and sFlow sampling for accurate traffic monitoring and troubleshooting.

Intelligent Network Analysis Tools

iNQA tracks forward/backward packet loss; eMDI diagnoses real-time audio/video service failure; SIP-aware QoS prioritizes multimedia traffic and collects session statistics; Netstream implements uni/bi-directional flow data collection for traffic auditing.

PoE Specifications

PoE+/PoE ports supply up to 30W per port for PD devices like AP and IP camera. Optimized Fast PoE and Perpetual PoE realize instant power-up and uninterrupted feed during device reboot.

Flexible Management & Lightning Protection

Managed via Console, Micro-USB and out-of-band Ethernet port with SNMP, CLI, SSH and Telnet, compatible with iMC and third-party NMS. Built-in 10kV surge protection on service ports improves adaptability for harsh deployment environments.
